The unemployment rate in Tunisia reached 16.1% in the first third of 2022, stable compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, as announced by the National Statistics Institute.
According to the institute, the unemployment rate among men rose 0.2 points in the first quarter of this year, to 14.1 percent, while among women it dropped 0.4 percent to 20.9 percent. , indicating that the results of the National Population and Employment Survey, in the first third of 2022, were affected by the strike by Institute workers.
The institute pointed out that the National Population and Employment Survey, in the fourth quarter of 2021, which could not be published due to unemployment of institute employees, showed a decrease in the unemployment rate of 2.2 points, compared to the third. , where the unemployment rate stood at the end of last year at 16.2% compared to 18.4% in the third quarter of the same year.
The unemployment rate for young people between the ages of 15 and 24 dropped in the first quarter of 2022 to reach 38.5 percent, compared to 40 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021.
