Orthopedic pillows, engagement rings and dog food. These are some of the most original objects forgotten in Uber

If you’ve ever taken individual public transportation, such as a taxi or Uber, you may have forgotten something inside the car after completing the trip. If so, do not think that it is a unique case. And, in fact, its oblivion may even have ended up in a “ranking” of this TDVE company (Individual and Remunerated Transport of Passengers in Vehicles Not Characterized from an Electronic Platform).

According to an Uber study, cell phones (2814) were the most forgotten objects by passengers, followed by handbags (1776), glasses (1648) and keys (1408).

But there are many omissions that, not being included in the ranking, stand out for their originality: bags with gifts, employment contracts, passports, ATM cards, dog food, engagement rings, and orthopedic pillows.

According to Uber, Friday and Saturday are the days where forgetfulness is more frequent. The most propitious times for disturbances to occur are 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. And it was in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve where more objects were forgotten.

If you lose something inside an Uber, you don’t have to immediately think about replacing it, as you can try to recover the product, as the company explains:

  • Open the Uber app and tap Menu (☰) in the top left corner;
  • Select “your trips” and tap on the trip where you think you might have left the item;
  • Then tap on “retrieve lost item” and select “Contacting the driver about a lost item“;
  • Enter your mobile number. From here, Uber will directly connect your number to the driver’s. The driver will not have access to your mobile number.
  • If you can’t reach the driver after your ride, contact Uber here for help. You will then be informed if the object was found. If the item is found, Uber will help coordinate with the driver to return it.
