Four years after cash payments of amounts greater than three thousand euros were prohibited, there are still sectors that do not respect the indication. This is the case of the sale of homes that, since the entry into force of the ban, has already handled almost 40 million euros in bills, writes Expresso.
It corresponds to the Institute of Public Markets, Real Estate and Construction, IMPIC, to notify the Tax Authority of businesses, and respective means of payment, that exceed one thousand euros in banknotes (in companies with organized accounting), three thousand euros (in other cases) or even 10 thousand euros when the buyer is a foreigner.
Between 2018 and 2021, 2,712 operations were reported to IMPIC, corresponding to 38 million euros in cash. That is, on average, each buyer paid 15% of the value (more than 16 thousand euros) in bills.
To the weekly, the president of the IMPIC says that he communicates “informally or by request to the Financial Information Unit of the PJ and, occasionally, to the DCIAP” the data related to this type of transaction that has been prohibited by law since 2017.
