James Clyburn (DS.C.) has no doubts that “for many people” we are in a recession and that “If you can’t afford gas, you’re in a recession.” Clyburn also noted that while this happens, although some individual investors are losing money in today’s market, the “investor class” and corporate leaders are productive and still profitable.
Host Neil Cavuto asked: [relevant remarks begin around 3:30] “I think a lot of them are worried about what’s going on in the economy. I know the president said we’re not experiencing a recession. Others disagree. Just out of curiosity, do you think we’re in a recession?”
Clyburn said, “For most people, yes. There’s no doubt about it. If you can’t afford gas, you’re in recession. The investor class in this country isn’t losing money. Individuals? Yes. But as a class, investors are still profitable. Corporate executives make a lot of money. That’s not the point. . “
