Musician Roger Waters performs in Lisbon in March 2023

British musician Roger Waters will perform on March 17, 2023 at the Altice Arena, in Lisbon, as part of the “This Is Not a Drill” tour, the promoter Rhythms & Blues announced this Friday.

Roger Waters, one of the founders of Pink Floyd, will open the European leg of the world tour in Lisbon, then head to Spain, Italy, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

According to the promoter, the tickets will be on sale from Monday 19with the prices that vary between 45 euros and 90 eurosalthough there is the possibility of pre-purchase on the weekend, only in FNAC stores and with added costs.

“This Is Not a Drill” bills itself as 79-year-old Roger Waters’ “first farewell tour” and should have taken place in 2020, if the world hadn’t grappled with the novel coronavirus pandemic. The musician only started with the new show last July, with an extensive tour of North America, which will only end in October in Mexico.

In a press release, the musician explains that the “This Is Not A Drill” tour is “a great spectacle of innovative and cinematic rock and roll”, with “dozens of great songs from the golden age of Pink Floyd and also some songs new”.

Never forgetting his political convictions, Roger Waters adds: the tour is “an incredible nod to the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive, and a call to love, protect and share our precious and very precarious planet Earth”.

Roger Waters chose Lisbon to start his European tour, as happened in 2011, when he presented, over two nights at the Altice Arena, in an elaborate visual show, the album “The Wall”, which Pink Floyd released in 1979.
