Portuguese Industrial Association asks for more support from companies in the face of the worsening economic situation

Among the measures defended by the Portuguese Industrial Association is also the increase in the support rate to 60% for natural gas-intensive industries and its extension to sectors of the manufacturing industry with high electricity consumption.

The Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) defended this Thursday a set of new support measures for companies that include a return to let simplified, tax deferral, interest subsidy and transversal reduction of company tax.

In a statement, the AIP points out that, as “the worsening of the economic situation is foreseeable”, the Government “must follow the strategy adopted during the pandemic” advance in the support programs, depending on the evolution of the economic and business situation.

Highlight the increase in tax revenues above the budget recorded until July, which represents in 3.5 million euros, points out that “a set of more ambitious measures with a different scope in mitigating the effects of the current situation” would be expected -in reference to the new aid plan approved by the Government-.

For the AIP, the Government should then consider returning to the measures used during the pandemic, such as the let simplified and the deferral of the payment of contributions and taxes.

Among the measures advocated by the Portuguese Industrial Association are also the increase in the support rate to 60% for natural gas-intensive industries and its extension to manufacturing sectors with high electricity consumption.

At the same time, the AIP defends the aforementioned lowering of the IRC for all sectors, as well as the improvement of the maturity conditions and lack of capital for those who use the treasury support lines, in view of the provisions of the plan of the Government. and interest subsidy.

The AIP also calls for “urgent regulation of measures” approved by the Government, eliminating “opacity” in the access criteria and amounts in some measures and improving the procedures for implementing measures to avoid delays.
