Banco de Fomento chooses 14 venture capital companies to inject 500 million in SMEs and “midcaps”

EITHER Banco Português de Fomento has already announced the 14 venture capital companies selected in the “Consolidar” Program, whose allocation announced by the Minister of Economy will be doubled to 500 million euros. It is a program through which Banco de Fomento will inject capital into companies that are chosen together with private partners -a program that uses funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR)- and serves to “support the subscription of venture capital funds earmarked for investment in capitalization of SMEs and middle capsimpacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, but economically viable and with recovery potential.”

Of the 33 requests, with investment intentions of more than 1,300 million euros, submitted by Venture Capital Companies and Venture Capital Management Companies (SCR), 14 requests were approved, corresponding to investment operations of the Capitalization and Resilience Fund (FdCR ), says the Development Bank. Given the “enormous demand” that the program aroused, it was decided to double the total amount to 500 million euros.

The entities selected for capital contributions by the BPF, through the FdCR, are:

  • basic capital;
  • Crest Capital Partners;
  • Dracott;
  • ECS Capital;
  • capital fortress;
  • Grosvenor;
  • growth partners;
  • HCapital Partners;
  • horizon equity partners;
  • Inter-Risk;
  • OxyCapital;
  • Companies from Portugal;
  • Tour Capital Partners.
