The PS will ask the Bank of Portugal for “all the documentation and information” that justified the intervention of former governor Carlos Costa in the Eurobic/BPI process, the socialist parliamentary leader announced on Wednesday.
The PS Parliamentary Group, as the first initiative, will request from the Banco de Portugal all the documentation and information -whether from the supervision department or from other departments that the Banco de Portugal deems relevant- regarding the intervention process of the Banco de Portugal in the Eurobic process and especially in the week of April 10 to 17, 2016″, announced Eurico Brilhante Dias at a press conference in the Assembly of the Republic.
Brilhante Dias considered it “very important” to understand “the fundamentals” of this intervention and added that the PS wants “the documents, the minutes, the technical basis” that motivated it.
Accompanied by PS leaders Jamila Madeira and Miguel Costa Matos, the socialist parliamentary leader considered that the letter sent by the Prime Minister on Tuesday night in response to PSD questions about alleged interference in the Bank of Portugal show that there remains, “in fact, a haze” over this case.
