CP workers began more strikes on Monday, with the carrier warning of “serious disturbances” until March 2, in a protest over the deadlock in wage negotiations that also involves Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
CP warned this Friday of “serious disturbances” in the circulation of trains between 00:00 on February 27 and 23:59 on March 2, due to the strike, with minimum services decreed for two of those days.
The origin of the statement from CP Comboio de Portugal is the strike called by the unions SINFA, ASCEF, ASSIFECO, FENTCOP, SINFB, SIOFA, STF, STMEFE, SINAFE for February 27 and March 1 and by the SNTSF for February 28. February and March 2.
For this reason, the company warns that “there will be serious disturbances in the circulation of trains, at the national level, in the period between 00:00 on the 27th and 23:59 on the 2nd of March 2023”, and adds that minimum services have been decreed for February 27 and March 1, 2023.
Customers who have already purchased tickets for the Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, as well as for the International, InterRegional and Regional services, can request a refund “of the total amount of the purchased ticket or its free revalidation for another train of the same category and in the same class”.
The same CP information also adds that the refund can be requested at the ticket office or through the cp.pt website, by completing an online form, sending a scan of the original ticket, as well as an indication of the name, address, IBAN and NIF , up to ten days after the end of the strike.
Tickets can be revalidated free of charge at the ticket office or through myCP, if purchased online or through the CP application, up to 30 minutes before the departure of the train from the customer’s station of origin.
On February 15, the Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) and the National Union of Railway Workers of the Movement and Allied (Sinafe) announced a strike in CP for February 27 and March 1.
In a statement, they said that CP workers will go on strike for the provision of “each and every job under the following terms” on February 27 and March 1, “during their entire work period.” .
CP warns of disturbances in circulation starting Monday
A day earlier, those unions had announced a strike at Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) for February 28 and March 2.
At issue is the “deadlock” in wage negotiations with the management of IP and CP, say the unions in a statement.
