“I did not make the decision, nor did I help make it.” TAP CFO admits he found out about the deal with Alexandra Reis, but without details

TAP’s financial administrator guarantees that it had no intervention in the process that resulted in the departure of Alexandra Reis from the airline’s board of directors. Gonçalo Pires confirms what he told the General Finance Inspectorate (IGF) in the audit that acquitted him of the decision whose illegality led to the dismissal process of the executive president and president of TAP.

In view of the minutes of what was said to the IGF by PSD deputy Paulo Moniz who asked him to correct or confirm it, Gonçalo Pires underlines and confirms: “I had no participation in the preparation, elaboration, negotiation, decision or closing of any security”. , which is being heard by the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the public management of TAP, admits, however, that the agreement to leave Alexandra Reis was communicated to him by the executive president, Christine Ourmières-Widener, a few days before the formal announcement and by message, but without details.

IGF does not know if the financial manager of TAP (saved in the audit) knew about the amount paid to Alexandra Reis

In other words, it confirms to Paulo Moniz that there was informal knowledge prior to the February 4 email identified in the IGF audit in which he was officially notified of the administrator’s departure and the terms of the departure notice sent to the Market Commission Securities, in which the exit is classified as a resignation.

Gonçalo Pires also admits that the departure of Alexandra Reis was not a surprise because there were already dissenting positions expressed by the administrator at the board of directors and due to the change in the shareholding structure with the departure of Humberto Pedrosa, the private shareholder. , and after which he left a non-executive director appointed by him, Silva Rodrigues. Alexandra Reis had also been appointed by this shareholder (and even made the position available a few days before the CEO asked the supervisory board to remove her).

Alexandra Reis made Pedro Nuno available days before he gave TAP the green light to negotiate his departure

The CFO also acknowledges having been informed that there would be changes in the composition of the management team, but only remembers having made suggestions or contacts to find a replacement after the departure of the manager.

The fact that he had informal knowledge does not eliminate the fact that he did not participate and reaffirms: “I did not make, nor did I help make the decision.” And he assures that he did not discuss the departure of the administrator with Miguel Reis, the then Secretary of State for Finance who was in charge of TAP.

CFO confirms to be a friend of Galamba, who requested instructions for discreet presentation of 2022 results

Gonçalo Pires affirms that he is a close friend of João Galamba (Minister of Infrastructure) with whom he was at the Faculty and from whom he received instructions on how to present the 2022 results, but after being asked the question. The CFO agrees that, in the current context sui generis of the company’s life, the presentation of the results must be as “discreet as possible”, despite acknowledging that TAP’s teams and employees would have liked to make a more public presentation.

In clarifications given to the Liberal Initiative deputy, Bernardo Blanco, he indicated that the majority of the board agreed with the discreet approach to the results, without clarifying, however, whether the executive president also defended that position.
