The president of the Madeira Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, assured this Tuesday that the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) will be fully complied with in the region, despite the “Byzantine bureaucracy” of the Government of the Republic.
“Madeira has a tradition of fully complying with community funds and making the most of them and we are not going to change, despite the Byzantine bureaucracy that we had to face in Lisbonsaid Miguel Albuquerque.
The President of the Government of Madeira was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the presentation of the construction project for a new residence for the elderly of the Associação de Socorros Mútuos 4 de Setembro 1862, which will be financed by the PRR.
PRR. Portugal did not meet the goal of decentralization of health, but it will not be penalized
Miguel Albuquerque said that, in order to approve the construction of houses under the PRR, the region faced “a set of obstacles and impediments on the part of the Government [da República]” which caused delays in the project.
“The bureaucracy in Portugal is a centipede, which has several heads and several legs, that is, thousands, and things never progress. Everything is a complication, things revolve around stupid formalities, so things are always late”, he pointed.
“But, for the moment, everything is running smoothly and we are going to fully execute these community funds,” he assured.
A source from the regional presidency indicated that the PRR currently registers an execution of 36%. The residential structure for the elderly presented this Tuesday will have 24 rooms, in a total of four floors, and capacity for 44 users.
