Luís Marques Mendes says that the ECB president “does not generate understanding” when she blames wages for inflation and recommends that governments withdraw support for the population. “She does not help the cohesion of the eurozone at all,” considered the SIC commentator. It should be remembered that the ECB leader said this week that the “most persistent inflationary process” is caused by the increase in wages, which is why she will maintain the trajectory of rising interest rates. She not only appealed to the increase in wages to be moderate, but also to the European governments to reverse the measures to help families and companies implemented in response to rising inflation.

Marques Mendes says that the controversy between the ECB president and the politicians “is not surprising”, but says that Lagarde failed in the formula, making “the school remember the troika.
