TST regrets the inconvenience caused by Thursday’s strike and says it had an agreement with the unions

The company Transportes Sul do Tajo (TST) regretted this Friday the inconvenience caused by strike last Thursday and recalled that an agreement had already been reached with the unions, which provided for salary increases of 5.89% in 2024.

In a statement released this Friday, the TST recalls that it had already reached an agreement with the Representative Organizations of Workers (ORT) that, among other matters, It foresees salary increases of 5.89%, with a minimum of 60 euros per workerand an update of the food allowance for 7.30 euroswith exclusive payment by food card.

The company also highlights that the agreement, which after ended up being rejected by the workersIt also provided for the payment of a second food subsidy of 7.96 euros and a food subsidy for laid-off workers of 8.60 euros.

In response to the TST statement, which states that there was a prior agreement between the company and the unions, Sara Gligó, from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), told the Lusa agency that the “final decision is always made by the workers, who ended up rejecting this agreement.”

“Considering that it was a final proposal, which the company assumed as its last proposal, from then on there was nothing left to negotiate. And what we did was take this proposal to the workers, who are sovereign in their decision.”Sara Gligó highlighted.

Even so, according to the union leader, “the workers consider that the company’s latest proposal does not suit them and request a nominal increase of 80 euros and an allowance of approximately 9.60 euros.”

Sara Gligó also said that the unions will inform the TST company of the workers’ counterproposal and that they are available to resume the dialogue.

“Today we are going to actually inform the company that the workers reiterate the strike day, we reiterate their demands, but we do not close the door to dialogue. If the company considers that we still have some possibility of getting closer, obviously we will talk to the workers again,” he stated.
