Schools still do not receive funds delivered to the State in December

The representative of school directors warned this Wednesday in Parliament that the funds delivered to the Treasury at the end of last year, corresponding to the schools’ own income, have not yet been returned.

“In December, the schools delivered the money to the IGeFE (Institute of Financial Management of Education), which It has not yet been returned and, at the moment, there are many schools that need this money“warned the president of the National Association of Directors of Public Groups and Schools (ANDAEP), Filinto Lima, during the hearing on the parliamentary omission of Education.

The objective of the hearing was to debate the obligation of schools to report suspicions of violence against children, but the representative of the directors took advantage of the moment to ask the deputies for help to solve a problem that affects educational establishments.

Every year, in December, schools deliver to the Treasury their own income obtained through sales made in bars, stationery stores or initiatives developed by the school, such as the rental of spaces.

Managers are always expecting the funds to be returned at the beginning of the following year, but it has been common, year after year, to complain about delays in the return, accusing the Government of keeping thousands of euros retained in the coffers.
