Castro Verde: man seriously injured in the Neves-Corvo mines

A 53-year-old man was seriously injured on Wednesday after an accident at work in the Neves-Corvo mines, in the municipality of Castro Verde, Beja district, a Civil Protection source told Lusa news agency.

The source from the Subregional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Baixo Alentejo indicated that the alert of the accident, “a trauma”, was given at 2:50 p.m., and the victim was transported by helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM) to the hospital in Beja.

12 firefighters from Castro Verde, INEM and GNR were mobilized to the scene, supported by four vehicles, including the Beja emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER) and an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Castro Green, and the helicopter.
