CP workers to strike again on July 22 and 24

CP — Comboios de Portugal workers will strike again on 22 and 24 July, accusing the company’s management of presenting an unacceptable proposal.

“In addition to the plenary session scheduled for July 11, a group of unions notified CP of a strike notice for the 22nd and 24th of this month,” reads a note from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).

These workers went on strike on June 28..

For the unions, it is “unacceptable” that the PC administration, after having guaranteed that it would extend to all workers an agreement signed with a union organisation, wants to condition this on the acceptance of the proposed career regulations.

The Government, the CP and the Portuguese National Union of Railway Drivers (SMAQ), which had called a strike between June 27 and July 14, which has since been suspended, newcomer to agreement.

Strike suspended at CP after agreement on salary increase for all workers

Fectrans argued that the proposal “increases the versatility of functions and does not value the salary scale”, which it said was a “strategic measure” to attract new workers and retain current ones.

According to the same note, a meeting with the company was scheduled for this Friday, which was cancelled, since CP has to discuss the process with the guardianship.

[…] We hope that after this they come with clearer ideas develop the conflict and not with the same line of confrontation and provocation,” he stressed.

The plenary session on the 11th will take place at Entrecampos station in Lisbon.

In addition to the CTs of CP and IP and Fectrans, this position is supported by the trade union associations of Intermediate Railway Operations Managers (ASCEF) and Independent Railway Workers with a Commercial Career (ASSIFECO), as well as the national associations of transport, communications and works: Public Trade Unions (FENTCOP), Railway Sector Workers (SNTSF), Railway Workers of the Movement and Related (SINAFE), Democratic Railways (Sindefer) and Technical Personnel (SNAQ).

Support from the independent unions of Railway Workers, Infrastructure and Related Workers (SINFA), National Railway Workers (SINFB), Railway Operations and Related Workers (SIOFA) and the Railway Transport Unions (STF) and Metro and Railway Workers (STMEFE).
