Lisbon Municipal Workers’ Union calls for strike and demonstration on September 20

The Lisbon Municipal Workers’ Union (STML) has called for a demonstration in the capital and a 24-hour strike to demand better working conditions and wages on September 20, the union announced.

In a statement, STML says that The strike will take place between midnight and midnight on the 20th and will affect all workers in the municipality of Lisbon.including those of municipal and intermunicipal companies, foundations and others, as well as all workers of the parish councils of Lisbon, “regardless of their contractual relationship, work schedule and place of work”.

The union claims that The aim of this strike is to enable workers to participate in the national demonstration. promoted that day in Lisbon by the STML and the Local Government Workers Union “for professional and salary development”.

The unions’ demands include the extension of the application of the health, hardship and risk supplement and the updating of its amounts, the identification and regulation of rapidly declining professions and the defence and reinforcement of public services.

They also advocate the inclusion in the supplement of unhealthy conditions, hardship and risk of reduced working hours, in addition to the reduction of working hours for retirement reasons and the increase in vacation days.
