Federation says risk situations for doctors and users are becoming normal

The National Federation of Physicians warned today that situations that put doctors and users at risk are increasing and becoming normalized, asking for excuses of responsibility whenever they are justified.

In a statement, the FNAM gives several examples of abnormal functioning of the National Health Service (SNS), such as the existence of Reduced teams due to lack of doctors.s, “aggravated by the delay in the competition to hire specialists,” and the Lack of surgical material or sterilization problems such as the one reported at the García de Orta Hospital.

The FNAM also says that there are specialists called to work in different areas, giving the example of mobilizing general surgeons to perform Caesarean sections.

“These are just a few examples of situations that are becoming normal,” the federation stressed, pointing out the increase in such situations and calling on doctors to absolve themselves of responsibility when adequate conditions for the performance of their duties are not guaranteed.

These excuses –he recalls– “protect doctors and users from the consequences of disastrous governance.”

FNAM called for a two-day national strike on September 24 and 25demanding a negotiation “that is not a facade”, fair wages and decent working conditions.

In the note released today, the federation calls on all doctors and other health professionals, as well as users, to join the demonstration called for 24th at 3:00 p.m., in front of the Ministry of Health.

Calling for the strike earlier this month, FNAM said doctors continue to be “pressured to work additional hours beyond the annual legal limits, with reduced teams and with irregularities in their remuneration.”

For the FNAM, “a priority is to improve the salary scales of all doctors, to return to 35 hours of work per week and 12 hours in the emergency service, to reintegrate internships into the medical career and to create a regime of exclusive, facultative dedication for all doctors and to duly increase it.”

Doctors also want the return of 25 working days of vacation, the resizing of the lists of users of family doctors and the negotiation of other aspects of the career.
