Harry Styles announced via an Instagram post Saturday that he has donated $1 million to Mike Bloomberg member Everytown for gun safety and will be joining Everytown on his upcoming tour.
Yahoo Entertainment announced Styles’ commitment to donate $1 million to Everytown.
Styles took to Instagram to announce his partnership with the gun control group:
Like all of you, I am deeply saddened by the series of shootings in America, resulting in the most recent incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
On our tour of North America, we’ll partner with Everytown to work to end gun violence, donate to support their efforts, and share suggested actions.
The second meme, added to Stiles’ Instagram post, reads: “Guns are the number one killer of American children and teenagers.”
The meme on child and adolescent mortality is based on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 2020. Fox News noted that the figures showed 4,368 gun-related deaths. The number of people who died from traffic accidents in the same age range remained at 4,036.
Breitbart News also noted that CDC data also showed 149 accidental deaths with guns in children aged 0 to 19 in 2020, with 4,000 children accidentally killed from cars in the same year.
There are 27 times more accidental gun deaths than motor vehicle accident deaths.
