Actor Matthew McConaughey is facing backlash after he passed gun control laws, saying they were “acceptable sacrifices” for Second Amendment supporters.
Actor – known for using guns in movies like Gentleman, Fire Kingdomtogether Sahara -He also spoke at a press briefing at the White House on Tuesday, where he called for a red flag law, raised the AR-15 rifle purchase age to 21, and conducted background checks.
“I was born in Uvalde, Texas,” McConaughey said. “Uvalde is where I learned to use a weapon responsibly, and Uvalde called me on May 24 when I heard the news of this devastating tragedy.”
“We need responsible gun ownership,” said McConaughey. “We need background checks. We need to increase the age to buy AR-15 rifles to 21. We need a cooldown for these rifles. We need red flag laws and their consequences for those who abuse them. ”
