Swedish action star Dolph Lundgren denounced the amount of rape taking place in his country and said the country cannot protect women from rape.
1980s action legend Lundgren wrote on his Instagram page this week: “Unfortunately, my home country Sweden still can’t protect its women from rape.”
“Last week, three men were convicted of gang-raping a disabled girl – one assailant was sentenced to 4 years, the other two – 2 years in prison. “Another man was sentenced to 4 years in prison for repeatedly raping his daughter.”
“Sweden has the highest per capita rape rate in Europe and one of the highest in the world,” Lundgren said.

In Sweden, rape cases reported to authorities rose 33 percent in a decade, according to a 2019 report, but some of the increases were due to changes to Swedish law in 2018, when the government approved the law. Having sexual intercourse without consent is considered rape.
By 2020, the number of reported rapes will rise again, but according to the National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå), the number of rapes against adult women remained the same as a year ago, but the number of reported child activities has reduced sexual abuse. It rose 16 percent, with 3,950 child rapes reported in 2020.
Last year, a Lund University study found that most of those convicted of rape in Sweden were either immigrants or had immigrant backgrounds, and nearly half of those convicted were born outside of Sweden.
Of the convicted rapists born outside of Sweden, 34.5 percent came from North Africa or the Middle East, and 19.1 percent came from sub-Saharan Africa.
“Our findings are particularly relevant to crime prevention efforts. However, little is known about the relationship between rape and various contextual factors among immigrants in Sweden,” say the authors of the Lund University report.
