On Saturday night, the reception was not warm for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was booed on stage at the Global Citizen Festival after being introduced by Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Pelosi, 82, was attending a meeting with her husband Paul in New York’s Central Park when Chopra Jonas invited her to perform to a crowd of music lovers.
In a city where 68 percent of registered voters declared themselves Democrats, the result did not affect either.
When Pelosi revealed her plans to address climate issues in Congress, audiences could be heard booing the veteran Democrat despite his talk of carbon pollution and “climate change.”

“Thanks to your help, the United States recently passed the historic game-changing climate law,” Pelosi said. New York Post reports.
“By 2030, carbon emissions will be reduced by 40 percent and an historic $370 billion will be provided to combat the climate crisis.”
As the audience’s reaction grew, several “Let’s go!” voices were heard. apparently, he hoped that the evening entertainment would continue without the politician appearing on the stage.
