At the age of 60, Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to receive an Oscar nomination and win for Best Actress for her role as Evelyn Wang in the film “Everywhere at the Same Time” from the directorial duo. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (one of the seven statuettes won). A considerable feat for someone who started his career some four decades ago and who in recent years had been increasingly removed from the mainstream. Following news of the nomination, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter that this distinction went beyond herself. “Right now, and constantly, I have Asians come up to me and say, ‘You can do this, you’re doing it for us.’ I understand clearly.
