The Ornatos Violeta band heads the first night of the 101st Burning of Ribbons in Porto, an event that takes place between May 7 and 13 and that has, for the first time, three stages, announced this Tuesday.
In an interview with the Lusa news agency, the president of the Porto Academic Federation (FAP), Ana Gabriela Cabilhas confirmed that the band from Porto, Ornatos Violeta, will return this year to the Porto students’ party.

“On the main stage, the Academy stage, the first confirmations that I can share with you is that on the night of Saturday to Sunday, that is, from May 6 to 7, we have Ornatos Violeta, who after more than 20 years returns to Queima das Fitas do Porto for a concert full of emotion” and “nostalgia”.
The Portuguese Chico da Tina, Slow J, Wet Bed Gang or Karetus, Quim Barreiros, T-Rex or Papillon are other bands that have already been confirmed to perform at the 101st edition of Queima das Fitas in Porto, event that will receive more than 50 artists related to music, dance, comedy and art and that will be distributed, for the first time, on three stages – Palco Academia (main stage), Palco Secundário, with theme nights, and Palco Cultura, with greater emphasis on “comedy monologues”, said the president of the FAP.
“We set out to organize this edition [de 2023]aware that we had a memorable 2022 edition and that brings us more responsibility and, therefore, that also led us to invest in and improve the premises, both in its layout and in the offer of the poster”, explained Gabriela Cabilhas.
Ivandro is another configuration for the night from Saturday to Sunday, that is, from May 6 to 7. The night of Sunday the 7th will be dedicated to Portuguese rap, with the confirmed presence of the artists Slow J (João Batista Coelho), T-Rex (Daniel Benjamim) and Papillon (Rui Pereira).

On the night of Monday the 8th, Chico da Tina (Francisco da Concertina), a Portuguese artist and troubadour, who was beginning to gain notoriety in the streets, performed on the main stage of Queima das Fitas in Porto.
On the night of Tuesday, May 9, the headliner is Quim Barreiros, who will be accompanied by Rosinha. The night of Wednesday May 10 is dedicated to “hip-hop”, with the Portuguese Wet Bed Gang, Dillaz and X-Tense.
On the night of Thursday, May 11, the presence of the electronic music duo Karetus and the Brazilian funk singer MC Pedrinho (Pedro Maia Tempester), known for the hit “Dom Dom Dom”, are expected.
The bands for the nights of May 12 and 13 are not yet closed and will be announced soon, like the other groups, adds the FAP.
“With the reinforcement of this poster, we expect to break a new record and exceed the revenue of the previous year and that it was already marked by one of the most attended editions in history”, declared Gabriela Cabilhas.
In 2022, Queima das Fitas received more than “300 thousand people” in the eight nights of the party, three of which sold out.
