The Council of Coimbra will vote, next Tuesday, the attribution of economic support in the amount of 440 thousand euros to Todo es Nuevothe company in charge of holding four Coldplay concerts in the student city.
In a press release sent to the Lusa agency, the Coimbra City Council indicated that this collaboration protocol “is a fundamental piece” in the preparation of the concerts of the British band Coldplay in Coimbra, serving to “place the city in the route of the great events”.
The Estádio Cidade de Coimbra hosts, in May 17, 18, 20 and 21the band led by Chris Martin, which will bring together more than 200,000 people in the four planned concerts.

According to the municipality of Coimbra, in addition to the media impact that the shows will generate, Coldplay’s performance at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra will reflect “very much on the local economy”, with “the two sectors directly benefiting the most, the hotel and restaurant industry, with obvious economic benefits.
“As relevant as the income and the economic return for the city, is the fact that these concerts constitute a strategic product for tourism in Coimbra, not only because of the enormous capacity to attract visitors, but also because of the catalytic effect within the city. himself”, he justifies himself.

“Recognizing the great international projection of Coldplay and the relevant municipal interest of the event”, the Municipality of Coimbra intends to grant Todo es Nuevo “Economic support in exchange for the selection, election and promotion of the city of Coimbra and the Estádio de Cidade de Coimbra for the performance of the shows, in the amount of 110 thousand euros for each concert, which makes a global value of 440 a thousand euros”.
