It’s funny how “Succession” manages to keep things extraordinarily simple at times. Especially around here, where we, viewers and professionals, complain so much about the lack of domestic audiovisual resources. Here is one of the most awarded North American series in recent years, reaching its climax and resolving it inside small offices, in conversations for two.
It is the penultimate episode, the much-heralded election day of the most powerful man in the world, and there is no exterior or a few more extras; at most, one or another actor invited to play a newscaster leg, on a screen, in the distance. It’s the apocalypse happening inside the rails, towards Kendall’s final discreet outburst to, presumably, the conductor: “Some people just can’t come to terms, Fikret.” “Some people just can’t make a deal…”, leaving deliberate doubts as to whether he is referring to his ex-wife, who has just denied him a request to go see the kids, since they were already sleeping, whether to the potential new one. President of the United States of America, who resists his will.
