The Porto Coliseu roof will be replaced starting in November

“One of the main structural problems of the Colosseum [do Porto]What even densifies many scenarios is the fact that we have to carry out structural works on the building. […] Starting in November we will be able to move forward with the complete replacement of the Coliseu roof,” announced Miguel Guedes, during a press conference to announce the “Elo” project, between the Coliseu and the Irmandade dos Clérigos.

On the sidelines of the press conference, Miguel Guedes explained to journalists that, if everything goes as planned, the public tender will be called on Tuesday, the works should begin in November to be carried out in two months and be ready in January 2024. .

“It is a very important work for the present and for the future projection of the Coliseu do Porto. There has been talk for many years about replacing the roof of the Colosseum, in fact it is one of the biggest structural problems of this house,” he stated, adding that the “work will cost around 300 thousand euros.”

To carry out the works to replace the Coliseum roof, Miguel Guedes highlighted the participation and support of the Porto City Council, the Ministry of Culture, the Porto Commercial Association, the Clérigos, some individual contributions and the “effort and contribution” of the Colosseum itself.

Miguel Guedes spoke on the sidelines of the presentation of “Elo”, a new project that unites the Coliseu do Porto and the Irmandade dos Clérigos, and which will be developed by the Coliseu Educational Service in collaboration with the Clérigos.

The project will be based on three main axes, which are “encounter, exchange and inclusion,” explained Filipa Godinho, director of the Educational Service.
