The president of the PSD, Rui Rio, congratulated the party’s newly elected leader, Luís Montenegro, with “very successful votes,” and also congratulated the defeated candidate “for the service he rendered to the party.”
Rui Rio expressed this position on the social network Twitter, after Luís Montenegro said on Saturday that the president of the PSD had already called him to congratulate him on the victory.

The mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, also used the same social network to congratulate Luís Montenegro.
