The Israeli military chief said on Sunday that the country had a “moral obligation” to prepare for military action against Iran’s nuclear program, after Iran announced that Tehran could make a bomb.
“Preparing the internal front for war is a task that will need to be accelerated in the years to come, especially in light of the possibility that we may take action against a nuclear threat,” said the IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General. Said Aviv Kochavi.
“The IDF continues to prepare vigorously for an attack on Iran and must be prepared for any development event and any scenario,” he said. “Preparing a military option against Iran’s nuclear program is a moral imperative and a requirement of national security.”
According to Kochavi, the nuclear threat is “at the heart” of the IDF’s training, including “allocating more resources, getting appropriate weapons, intelligence and training.”
This was stated by a senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. Al Jazeera Earlier on Sunday, he said Iran had a “technical way” to make a nuclear bomb.
“Iran has the technical means to develop a nuclear bomb, but Iran has not made the decision to develop a nuclear bomb,” Kamal Harrazi said, according to a Reuters translation.
Meanwhile, the US nuclear service and the UN have long argued that Iran may be unaware of actual bomb making.
Iran has always claimed that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
“We were able to enrich up to 60% uranium in a few days and easily produce uranium enriched up to 90%,” said Harrazi.

Israel “is at a stage of weakness and President Joe Biden’s support for it will not bring it forward,” Kharrazi told the network.
According to Harrazi, ongoing talks with the United States to restart the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal have faced difficulties due to “mistakes” on both sides.
“Our missile program and our policy in the region” is out of the question, Harazzi said, because it would mean the regime would actually surrender.
According to Kochavi, the world has exhausted Biden’s preferred diplomatic path.
“It is better to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons through diplomacy, but history has proven many times that diplomacy can only fail or succeed in the short term, followed by a breach or betrayal,” Kochavi said.
“First, if there is no deal and Iran’s nuclear program continues to expand, second, if there is an identical or similar agreement to the previous one, that would mean a bad deal that gives Iran the conditions to go nuclear. situation. shortly after the expiration date,” he said.
Speaking in Jerusalem last week, President Joe Biden reiterated his view that negotiations to restart the deal are the best way to prevent Iran from going nuclear.
“I still believe diplomacy is the best way,” Biden said at a joint briefing with Prime Minister Yair Lapid.
Lapid openly opposed Biden’s statement, saying, “They will not stop with words, Mr. President. Diplomacy will not stop them. The only thing that can stop Iran is realizing that the free world will use force if it continues to develop its nuclear program. The only way to stop them is to put a real military threat on the table.”
