Costa assures that he had a “serene” conversation with Montenegro and that “soon” they will talk about the new airport again

After nearly four hours of meeting with the leader of the largest opposition party, the prime minister spoke to reporters to say that “length conversation” took place “in a way serene” it is enough nice“, with “several issues” being addressed, namely the location of the new Lisbon airport. Regarding the possibilities of other consensuses, António Costa speaks of the importance of tracing the differences between the existing alternatives. “We are going to have several years of political stability, which is good and gives the opposition time to build its own alternative,” he says, adding that despite the natural differences, there are issues on which there must be agreement. And here he returned to issues of defense and foreign policy, also adding the need for “a great national consensus on major infrastructure”, which he has defended since he assumed the leadership of the PS, in 2014.

“Lisbon’s growing demand makes the decision on a new airport critical. This is an issue on which it is important to have an agreement, I don’t know if there will be one”, reinforced the prime minister at the end of the meeting, in statements to journalists. He also repeated that the two were only “transmitting the information” they have on each of the topics discussed and devalued the public political mischief in Montenegro: “Political rhetoric is part of life, the one who is anguished better changes his life. It’s like a football player who thinks that being on the field is not necessary corrugated and take.”

The prime minister left without clarifying when there will be a new meeting between the two, despite having shown that this path of dialogue will remain open and that a new conversation dedicated to the new airport will take place in the short term.
