The PSD made an appeal this Friday to the Government to “safeguard the best functioning” of the SIRESP network, after news about breakdowns during the fires in the Leiria district that will have forced the firefighters to resort to alternative communications.
In a statement, the vice president of the Social Democratic caucus Andreia Neto considered that the The “continuous failures” of the SIRESP during the fires in Leiria are of “huge concern” and appealed to the socialist executive “to care for and guarantee the proper functioning of this communications network.”
Rádio Renascença reported this Friday that the communications network used by the fire departments and all the operations involved in firefighting failed during the latest fires in the Leiria district.
In case of network failure firefighters will have been forced to use their mobiles to communicatereported that radio.
