Glenn Youngkin’s approval rating rises in Virginia, Joe Biden’s remains submerged

According to the poll, the majority of Virginians endorse Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin in his first year in office, while President Joe Biden’s endorsement of the Commonwealth is still in question.

A recent Roanoke College poll of politics and public opinion found that 55 percent of 640 respondents approved of Youngkin’s performance as governor, and only 35 percent disapproved.

Yongkin’s job endorsement has increased since his election. In May, his job was still approved by the majority (53 percent) and was again at 50 percent in the February poll.

In fact, when respondents were asked whether they had a positive or negative impression of Yongkin, 51% responded positively to Yongkin, while only 37% responded negatively.

When asked how they felt about Biden’s performance as president, 39 percent said they approved and 57 percent said they did not.

The approval rating for Biden’s performance has remained low over the past year. Despite the increase since May, when its approval was 37 percent, it is still lower than in February, when it received 41 percent approval.

The survey showed that respondents were almost completely surprised when asked whether they had a positive or negative impression of Biden. Only 41 percent saw it positively and 55 percent saw it negatively.

The survey was conducted August 7-16, when 640 adult Virginia residents were interviewed. The survey error is 4.5 percent.

Youngkin is the first Republican elected to office in Virginia since 2009. In November 2021, the Republicans defeated the Democrats in the election. Republicans now hold the offices of governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. Also, the Republican Party overthrew the State House.
