Basta calls for union struggle for the right and promotes a new federation

Chega’s leader announced on Monday that the party is promoting the creation of a new “union federation”which hopes to be constituted in December, aimed at workers who do not see themselves in leftist parties.

The intention of the party led by André Ventura to consider a trade union movement had already been anticipated by the Observer last August. At the time, Diogo Pacheco Amorim, Chega’s ideologue and deputy, explained that Chega was considering founding his own “union movement” to “guarantee a party position among the various professional classes.”
