The general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, accused this Thursday the Government and the PS of whistling on the sidelines and keeping the correct accounts at the expense of salaries and pensions, allies of the PSD, the Liberal Initiative and Chega.
“The path of the majority of the government and of the majority of the Assembly of the Republic is to whistle aside in the face of the profits that grow more and more and settle accounts with salaries, pensions, public investment and national production,” said. Paulo Raimundo, criticizing the course taken by the PS chose to walk “together with PSD, IL and Chega”.
At a lunch-meeting in Valado dos Frades, in Nazaré, the general secretary of the PCP said that “The PS could well sell the idea that it negotiates with other partiesvoting in favor of the Livre and PAN proposals”, when, in reality, “he chose his path”, in a “a path that has as its fundamental matrix the so-called true accounts”.
In front of some 350 militants and supporters of the party, in what was his first political intervention in the Leiria district, Paulo Raimundo guaranteed: “There is no one here who is not from and by certain stories”, but recalled that “there are different paths and different accounts of law”.
After seeing “measures that made it possible to stop the course of the disaster that is brewing” failed in Parliament, the PCP leader criticized the PS for refusing to “Urgent and necessary change” in national politics and opted for “blackmail”.
In the opinion of the general secretary of the PCP, the government opted “for the blinding of absolute power and for the project that it had been pursuing since 2015, for the policy of low wages, precariousness, degradation of public services, disorder of the territory, difficulties in access to housing.
In the list of criticisms, he pointed to the National Health Service (SNS), “one of the central elements of the approach in the famous State Budgets in which The PS victimized itself and took advantage of it to go to early elections, when nothing forced it ”, leading to a degradation that is this Thursday “exactly what the PCP warned it would be, if measures were not also taken in the budget plan.”
By admitting that he does not have “a magic wand to solve all the problems of the SNS in a single day”, Paulo Raimundo defended that the PCP has “the solutions to explore this necessary path”regretting that they are facing current political options, that is, “the reality of disinvestment, devaluation of professionals, closure of services, pushing services to private groups and transferring billions of euros to the disease business that is so necessary” by the health system
The poverty that, according to the PCP, affects 2.3 million people, “700,000 of whom working every day cannot get out of this situation”, was another of the criticisms of Paulo Raimundo, for whom it is “urgent to stop this accelerated course of impoverishment” of large sectors of the population who feel on their skin “the theft of wages and pensions at the same time that they are presented daily with incredible increases in the profits of a few”, such as mass distribution.
“Do not ask us for understanding, do not try to convince us that we are going to have to continue living worse, in a state of emergency or in contingency,” said the PCP leader, challenging the government not to “blackmail while whistling to the side with the brutal concentration of wealth that accumulates in a pair of hands.
“This has not, cannot and will not continue like this”defended Paulo Raimundo, encouraging the militants present at the lunch to use “injustices as a fighting force” and strengthen the party that “commits to the affirmation of the political alternative” with the central objective of workers’ rights.
