Russian Daniil Medvedev, second in the world tennis rankings, has announced his willingness to return to the courts and prepare for the Roland Garros tournament, after being absent last month due to surgery to treat a hernia.
Medvedev, 26, suffered an injury after entering the Miami Open quarterfinals on April 3, without making it into the clay court season.
Medvedev said before his participation in the Swiss Games in Geneva: “My start with clay was not easy. So it’s good to get ready for one of the competitions. ”
“I’m in good physical shape, I feel ready,” he added.

Medvedev, who rose to first place in the world rankings in a short time, considered participation in the Geneva tournament an opportunity to compete in the second major tournament, where the winner would have to beat his opponent in three sets per match.
Medvedev is exempted from playing in the first round and will face Frenchman Richard Gasquet or Australian John Millman in the second on Tuesday.
