Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé spoke at a press conference about continuing his career with the Parisian club in light of his connection with a move to Real Madrid.

PSG have announced an extension to Mbappe’s contract until 2025, ahead of the team’s last match against Metz, so the royal club has been hit hard.

Mbappé said at a press conference: “In the world of football, one thing I’ve learned is that I focus on the present and don’t think about the future.”

He added: “I don’t think much about the future, I’m only focused on Paris and the new phase of challenges that we will face.”

He continued: “Everyone knows that I asked to leave last summer and go to Real Madrid.

And he noted: “But there are several factors that pushed me to continue and extend the contract. I want to grow up in France for as long as possible, as well as the changes that have taken place in the sports project.”

He explained: “The decision was not easy, I always said that I would choose the right decision.”

And he said: “I have asked the Parisian administration to speak to Royal President Florentino Pérez in a decent, ethical, respectful and direct manner in order to inform him of the reasons for my decision.”

He concluded: “Real Madrid fans should understand my decision objectively. I want to return the favor. I am French and my hometown is in France and I aim to elevate France to the highest positions through my presence in Paris.”
