American tennis player Taylor Fritz, 14th in the ATP world ranking and third seeded, won the Eastbourne tournament in England on Saturday, beating his compatriot Maxime Cressy in three sets in the final.
Fritz won his second title of the year -after winning the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, against Rafael Nadal- and the third of his career, since in 2019 he had also triumphed at Eastbourne, the tournament that precedes the Wimbledon ‘major’.
In today’s final, Fritz defeated Cressy, 60th in the world, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7) and 7-6 (7-4), after two hours and 16 minutes of play.
At Wimbledon, the third tournament of the ‘Grand Slam’ of 2022, which starts on Monday, Taylor Fritz should enter the ‘court’ on Tuesday, starting the competition against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (71st).
