According to a former member of the red team, part of the Ferrari crew initially refused to attend the podium ceremony at Silverstone after Carlos Sainz’s win. Sainz won his first career in Formula One, but that victory came at the expense of fellow team driver Charles Leclerc, whose fortunes were ruined by a strategic mistake by the team. According to former Ferrari spokesman Alberto Antonini, employees were initially reluctant to celebrate winning the race. Antonini wrote on Formulapassion.it: “I was told – and I trust the source – that something bad happened right after the Silverstone race. Part of the Ferrari team, at least initially, refused to go up to the podium and take pictures. If this is true, then I’m afraid this is not a good sign. A bit of healthy pit stop competition is good and every mechanic and every technician can root for their driver, but the general interest should be to win.”
