France’s Justine Dupont at the WSL Big Wave Awards

French surfer Justine Dupont was the big winner at the annual Big Wave Awards, winning two categories, Best Wave of the Year and Biggest Wave of the Year. gainannounced this Thursday the World Surf League (WSL).

Justine Dupont won the award for the best wave (Tahiti, August 13, 2021) and the largest of gain (thrown by the jet ski), in Praia do Norte, Nazaré, on January 8 of this year.

The Portuguese Joao Macedo and Nicolau Von Ruppboth nominated for the men’s category of the biggest wave of gain, ranked second and fourthrespectively, with waves captured in Nazaré on February 25 and January 8, the American Mason Barnes winning the trophy with a wave also captured in Nazaré, on February 26.

The Italian Francisco Porcella won the award for the best wave of the year (Jaws, Hawaii, November 2, 2021), and the Hawaiian Billy Kemper, on the same beach and on the same day, won the award for the wave largest in rowing.

In the women’s draw, Hawaiian Annie Reickert was the winner of the biggest wave in rowing (Jaws, Hawaii, November 2, 2021).
