Wydad Casablanca, champion of the Moroccan League and African Champions League, has announced the appointment of Hussein Amot as the team’s new coach, replacing Walid Regraki, whose contract has expired and reports indicate he could take over as manager of the Morocco national team. following the dismissal of Vahid Halilhodzic last week.
Wydad did not reveal the length of the contract for Amota (52), who previously captained the team in 2017-2018 and crowned the African Champions League and Moroccan professional league doubles like Regragui.
Wydad indicated in a statement posted on his Facebook page that: “This contract with Mr. Amota is after agreeing to all set goals, the main one being continued leadership at the national and continental levels,” adding that he will introduce Amota to the masses and the media. In the next few days.
He added that the coach will be officially introduced to Wydad’s fans in the coming days and wished him well in his mission with the team.
During his training career, Amota led Al Fatah Al Rabat to victory in the Throne Cup and African Confederation Cup in 2010, then he moved to Al Sadd and won the Qatar Stars League with him in the 2012-2013 season and the Emir Double Cup. He also coached the Moroccan national team and won the African National Championship with him in 2020.
