Spaniard Santi Mina is preparing to face a sexual harassment trial to decide whether he will go to jail and serve his sentence.

The court sentenced Mina to four years in prison for a sexual offense against a woman committed on June 18, 2017 in Mojácar.

Despite the decision, he has not been asked to go to jail while appeals against the decision are pending, until it became known that the Spaniard was eligible to continue participating in the 2022/23 season with the Saudi youth.

The victim’s lawyer said: “You will not leave the country after only four months of conviction, but go to a country where women’s rights are seriously violated and practically non-existent, and it does not have an extradition agreement with Spain.”

The lawyer sees this as a worrying sign of what could happen in the future and emphasizes that if the sentence remains in place, Spain will not have the opportunity to demand the return of this man until he goes to prison.
