California: NFL reopens, rock concerts continue despite energy crisis

Fans flock to San Francisco’s Oracle Park for a rock concert on Wednesday, and the LA Rams will open their NFL season at their home on Thursday.

According to Breitbart News, it’s the eighth day in California that “flexible alerts” are in place, asking consumers to conserve energy during the day and at night. Thursday is a possible energy emergency, including possible power outages.

However, this does not seem to be the case for large stadium events, where large amounts of electricity can be used for lighting, sound reinforcement and special effects, as well as providing shopping and other services to thousands of visitors.

Fox News reported that SoFi Stadium, where the Rams will host the Buffalo Bills, does not use conventional air conditioning as it is an open stadium designed to take advantage of the nearby ocean breezes for cooling. But stadium lighting still consumes a lot of energy for screens and scoreboards.

The Oracle Park concert, which also included performances by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Poison, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, was also held outdoors, although it started at 16:30 when “Flex Alert” started and continued after its completion. . . In addition to powerful amplifiers, visuals include large screens, lights and laser beams.
