Abdullah Al-Mayouf, goalkeeper for Saudi Al-Hilal, confirmed he was surprised by captain Salman Al-Faraj’s initiative during the team’s Lusail Super Cup victory.

Al Hilal won the Lusail Super Cup after beating Zamalek 4-1 on penalties after the end of regular time in a 1-1 draw.

Al-Hilal captain Salman Al-Faraj, during the Super Lusail cup ceremony, took off his captain’s badge and asked his colleague Al-Mayuf to come forward to carry the cup.

Al-Mayouf played a major role in front of Zamalek where he saved balls from Zizou and Mahmoud Al-Wansh during the penalty shoot-out, contributing significantly to his team’s title.

Al-Mayouf praised Salman Al-Faraj’s performance, saying in statements after the match: “Actually, I was surprised by the initiative of captain Salman. We achieved the most important thing in the match against Zamalek. Congratulations to us and our fans on Super Lusail.” Cup title.

He added: “I congratulate my colleagues and fans, this match is a gift at the beginning of the season, and I hope that in the coming period it will motivate us to new victories and championship titles.”

The Al Hilal goalkeeper praised the stadium, its pitch and the weather, hoping that the atmosphere will be the same during the World Cup and that the Saudi team will do their best.

He concluded that he was ready to play for the national team at any time if he was called up.
