The Czech soccer coach was confident this Friday of a good result against Portugal, in the penultimate game of Group A2 of the Football Nations League, hoping that the return of Patrick Schick can help with goals.
During the press conference prior to Saturday’s game, coach Jaroslav Silhavy, 60, recalled what his team did best in the first round lossin Lisbon (2-0).
We all know that Portugal has a very strong team. The first part of our team was not good, but we managed to attack and create problems for the Portuguese defense. let’s try to play here [em Praga] as in the second part”, the coach wanted.
Jaroslav Silhavy then spoke about Schick, who was absent from the Czech team for several months due to injury, and ended up comparing him to the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Patrick Schick needs to score some goals. He is more of a killer, more of a scorer and more of an area man. Ronaldo looks more for the ball”, he observed.
On Saturday, at the Eden Arena, the Czechs can present themselves with a “line of three or four defenders”, according to the coach, who asked his team to be “more active and not just defend”.
The Czech team captain, Tomás Soucek, was also present at the previous press conference to show the “very good spirit” of the host team.
“We are all in very good spirits andWe love to play with a lot of determination to represent the team in the best possible way.”, assured the player of the English of West Ham, and added that playing “at home the Czech Republic is stronger”.
Soucek also spoke of Patrick Schick, from Bayer Leverkusen, from whom he expects “help with the goals”, remembering the five he scored in Euro2022, the same as Cristiano Ronaldo.
The match between the Czechs and the Portuguese, on Saturday, begins at 8:45 p.m. local time (7:45 p.m. in Lisbon), at the Eden Arena, in Prague, and will be refereed by Serbian Srdjan Jovanovic. On the sixth and final day, scheduled for Tuesday, Portugal will host Spain in Braga.
After four rounds of the League of Nations, Portugal occupies second place in Group A2, with seven points, after triumphs over Switzerland (4-0) and the Czech Republic (2-0), both in Lisbon, a draw in Seville, with Spain (1-1), and a defeat in Geneva, against the Swiss (1-0).
Spain leads the polisheswith eight points, while the Czech Republic is third, with four, and Switzerland, last, with three.
The formation of quinas, winner of the first edition of the League of Nations, in 2019, need to beat the grouping to get to the the last four of the third editionbeing the second won by France, in a final with Spain, in 2021.
The four group winners from League A qualify for the final phase, which includes the semi-finals, the final and the match for third place. THE the last four of the third edition of the test will be held in June 2023.
