Desportivo de Chaves goes to Luz to fulfill the saying “there are not two without three”

The coach of Desportivo de Chaves said this Friday that the team is ready for the visit to leader Benfica and that he wants to fulfill the saying “there are not two without three” with a victory in matchday 11 of the I League.

I would like it to materialize and that, in fact, there are no two without three. We know that we are going to face a worthy opponent, especially since he has shown it since the beginning of the season. We know that we are going to have and find ourselves with great difficulties, but we also know that we are prepared, we know what we have done and, therefore, we have to have confidence in the game we are going to play”, stressed Vítor Campelos. , at the press conference prior to the visit to Benfica, on Saturday, at 6:00 p.m.

After two wins in a row and three games without losing, Desportivo de Chaves is in 10th place in the standings, along with Estoril Praia and Portimonenseall with 15 points, and Benfica’s 13, which has not lost any of the 20 official matches played this season and secured, this week, passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Before this moment of the leader of the championship, Vítor Campelos confessed that he would like Desportivo de Chaves to “inflict the first defeat on the rival”although he admits that Benfica is “the strongest team” in the championship and that this is, therefore, the most difficult trip of the season.

“It’s one of those games where the coach needs to motivate the players, make them believe in their qualities and abilities and that’s what we’ve been doing during the week. It is another game that is worth three points. We know the value of the rival, but we also know our capabilities and what we want, can and will do”, he underlined.

Although he cannot count on the injured Sidy Sarr, Bruno Langa and Obiora, along with Sandro Cruz, unable to play due to being on loan from Benfica, the Guimarães coach was confident in the available squad, seeing the difference in budget between the ‘sets’ as “a matter of motivation”.

“We are aware of the difference between the team and the budget [orçamento] tallest and the one with budget lower, but when the referee blows the whistle, there are 11 players on the field and our players have to believe a lot in their abilities, believe in their teammates and in the work that is being done on the field, with their dedication, determination and concentration try, of course, to lessen that great difference between budgets”, he said.

Vítor Campelos also stressed that the team must be satisfied with what it has already achieved in the first days back in the I League, while still having “their feet firmly on the ground”.

This is a marathon and every week there is a 100 meter race. We are very happy that, on matchday 10, we have 15 points, but we know that there is still a long way to go to achieve our first objective, which is to consolidate Chaves in this First League. We are happy and it has to give us confidence and encourage us even more for the rest of the championship”, he concluded.

Desportivo de Chaves visits Benfica on Saturday, at 6:00 p.m., at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, in a match from matchday 11 of the First Football League, refereed by Luís Godinho, from the Association of Evora football.

In the 16 previous visits by Trás-os-Montes to the Águilas field for the championship, the best they could achieve were two draws, in 1986/87 (0-0) and 1987/88 (1-1).
