Basketball player Kyrie Irving is back with the Brooklyn Nets this Sunday after an eight-game suspension, and he apologized to anyone who might have offended with the anti-Semitic documentary he shared.
Kyrie Irving, 30, was suspended by the team from the North American Basketball League (NBA) on November 3, hours after he refused to say he had no anti-Semitic beliefs at a press conference held at the Brooklyn Nets training facility.
“I don’t even remotely advocate hate speech or anti-Semitism or anything that goes against the human race,” said the Nets guard, admitting he should have had another position at the aforementioned press conference earlier this month.
Irving missed eight games during the suspension period, which the Nets said would be for a minimum of five games without pay, with his return to competition expected to happen this Sunday against the Memphis formation.
Irving said he was initially searching for information when he came across the “Hebrews for Blacks: Wake Up Black America” link and shared it on his Twitter page.
When asked why he did it, Irving claimed the right to publish material of interest to him, refusing to apologize or clarify his religious beliefs during another interview a few days later.
Following the release of the anti-Semitic documentary on social media, Nike suspended sponsorships with Kyrie Irving, condemning “any hate speech.”
