The intense rain that fell this Wednesday in the Alentejo caused 59 floods, until 9:30 p.m., on public roads and homes, mainly in the districts of Beja and Portalegrewithout causing personal damage, said Civil Protection sources.
A source from the Beja District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) told the Lusa agency that 28 floods occurred in the district, with the city of Beja being the most affected area, without specifying the number of recorded occurrences.
According to the Portalegre CDOS, in the district there were 23 floodsbeing the municipality of Elvas the most affected, with 10 cases.
Also in the district of Portalegre, according to CDOS, two trees fell, the fall of a wall in the city of Elvas and 11 street cleanings.
In the district of Évora, according to CDOS, eight floods were recorded in the municipalities of Reguengos de Monsaraz, Estremoz, Mourão, Redondo and Alandroal.
In this district, the fall of a wall in the Basic School of Veiros and a temporary cut of a municipal road in that parish of the municipality of Estremoz, as well as the fall of two trees, in Estremoz and Arraiolos, are also recorded.
