Fool Ilona: Tesla recalls more than a million cars due to problems with power windows

More than a million Tesla vehicles have been recalled for a defect in the vehicle’s glass, meaning they could injure people for not meeting federal standards for power windows.

AP News reports that Tesla is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in the United States because the vehicle’s windows appear to have a flawed auto-swing system that means they can trap and injure people when closed.

In documents released by US regulators on Thursday, Tesla said its automatic pop-up system may not have reacted correctly after detecting an obstacle. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says this violates federal safety standards for power windows. Tesla says an online software update should fix the problem.

The recall applies to select Model 3 sedans from 2017 to 2022 and selected Model Y SUVs from 2020 and 2021. Some 2021 and 2022 Model S sedans and 2022 Model X SUVs are also affected.

The problem was discovered by Tesla during production testing in August. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified in writing starting November 15, and the company says production vehicles have received the required windows update as of September 13.

This is another from a long string of Tesla references over the years. In June 2021, Breitbart News announced that Chinese regulators will “remember” about 300,000 Chinese-made and imported Model 3 and Model Y vehicles for online software updates related to assisted driving, without requiring Tesla to require owners to return their vehicles for upgrades. . This was Tesla’s first experience with regulators in communist China.

In February, Tesla recalled nearly 54,000 vehicles because their “Full Self-Driving” software allowed them to pass stop signs without stopping.

In December 2021, Breitbart News reported that Tesla had recalled 475,000 vehicles in the US (about half of the vehicles sold in the country) to address several safety issues. The hood of the car comes off while driving and prevents the driver from seeing the windshield.
