Tesla has announced that it is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in the United States due to a safety issue with its automatic window reversing system.
The announcement was made on Thursday when the company reported the matter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The electric car maker says the pull covers 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles. According to Tesla, the vehicles’ automatic window reversing system sometimes fails to detect obstacles when closing, rising. . risk of injury.
NHTSA confirmed that the vehicles in question do not comply with Federal Vehicle Safety Standard requirements for power windows, adding that the defect could result in excessive force and pinch the driver or passenger before returning.

Tesla said the issue with the window reversing system was discovered during product testing in August. The automaker said it is not aware of any warranty claims, field reports, accidents, injuries or deaths related to the recall.
In the event of this recall, Tesla owners will not need to take their vehicles in for any repairs, as the company plans to fix the problem with a wireless software update.
Tesla added that since September 13, all of its production and pre-delivery vehicles have received an update stating that their power windows are operating in accordance with federal requirements. Notification letters are expected to be sent to recalled vehicle owners by November 15, 2022.
