The city’s central district will be surrounded by a series of “complexes”, each dedicated to educational, recreational and medical facilities.

Design firm URB says the city will ensure food and energy security while promoting a green circular economy (an economic system that aims to eliminate waste and the sustainable use of resources) in an eco- friendly destination to live, work and visit.

“Creating sustainable cities that strive for the highest standard of living with the lowest environmental impact is no longer an option, it has become a necessity,” said URB CEO Bahrash Baghrian.

XZERO is planned with a comprehensive, cross-functional solution that addresses the three pillars of social, economic and environmental sustainability.

The heart of this project is the unique landscape, which is multifunctional and designed to promote health, well-being and biodiversity.

“Landscape is the social glue of the entire city and will foster a vibrant neighborhood while connecting residents to all amenities within minutes,” said Bagrian.

“Landscaping is also great because it includes many different methods of urban farming, such as community gardens, bio-domes, hydroponics, vertical farms, and biosaline farming,” he added.

More than 65% of the 16 square kilometers will be devoted to agricultural landscaping, arid landscaping, permeable pavement that allows rainwater to flow, open spaces such as sports fields and courtyards.

The URB says that increasing the landscape area will increase social activities and biodiversity, and improving the microclimate will reduce the effects of rising temperatures and heat islands in the city (area). urban or a large city that is warmer than the surrounding countryside due to human activities).

It says the development will also require “minimum financial investment while delivering maximum environmental benefits”.

XZERO is designed to be the “biggest city in the world” by providing an array of walking networks with beautiful colors. These networks are linked to other forms of green transportation such as bicycles and electric vehicles to provide residents with safer, more comfortable and enjoyable travel.

The town also offers 35 km of dedicated running and biking trails, as well as 9 km of equestrian trails that connect to the equestrian center.

The URB explained: “Ultimately, the city will ensure the highest quality of life while protecting the environment for future generations.

An area of 1,600 hectares is planned to be developed in the southern region of Kuwait to provide 30,000 housing units as well as 30,000 green jobs.

These jobs will be created in centers as diverse as medicine, tourism, technology, education, retail and entertainment.

Complexes (specializing in entertainment, education, etc.) are located in the center of the city to reduce the walking distance of residents, while the houses are separated from each other.

All utilities and homes will use 100% renewable energy and all water will be recycled using a smart water system.

XZERO will promote sustainable tourism through various forms of eco-friendly accommodation, including a 5-star eco resort and eco hostel.

The Green Technology Center will foster a collaborative innovation environment in the fields of food, energy, water and waste technology.

The medical center includes a united village, health center and clinics. A green landscape is designed with landscaped areas designed to provide diverse habitat for wildlife (an area that hosts certain groups of plants and animals) along with rainwater harvesting. , flood reduction, and improved air quality and clean water.
